I've a Lenovo P70 with two USB-C ports. I have a couple different USB-C to Thunderbolt-2 adapters (one Apple, one Startech) but both behave similarly, when I can get them to work.

The biggest problem is the Blue Screen when I disconnect my Promise 2 RAID device (physically unplug)- which happens within seconds of the disconnect. This happens whether or not I have the Promise Admin tools or driver installed. The disk was unmounted with the Windows tools.

If I have the normal Windows 10 Rapid Start on and I shut down before disconnecting, I get the blue screen trap on startup- there's something persistent that's causing the crash.

I don't know where to start troubleshooting. The laptop is up-to-date with the Lenovo patches. Other aspects of the USB-C ports work fine (both will accept an Apple - USB-3 adapter and work with mouse and thumb drives). Thunderbolt Software only appears when I have the Thunderbolt adapters plugged in. The blue screen does NOT happen on a Thunderbolt equipped Lenovo W541.

Finally- only one USB-C port seems to work fairly reliably with the StarTech USB-C - Thunderbolt 2 adapter. The Apple adapter is unreliable and usually (but not always) won't ever work. The StarTech device works in one port 'most of the time' but not in the other port 'most of the time.' The Apple USB-C to USB adapter works in both ports 'all the time' (at least for mouse and thumb drives).

I'd purchased this laptop as it has a 17' screen for use in photography. The Promise RAID was to be the repository for that data and originally purchased for a MacBook Pro (for which it works perfectly) but the situation with the system-stopping traps on the P70 render it incapable of taking over the job from the MacBook (and severely reducing its usefulness).

Intel forums for firmware upgrades? Are there actual drivers somewhere (not listed in the Device Manager)?
